Sitemaps help users understand the information architecture of a site/app/product. They are both a planning tool and a data element provided to users and crawlers.
We created a detailed sitemap for our project, including parent and child sub-pages to help us plan hierarchy and organization of our application.
Prior to creating the sitemap, our storyboards helped us gain understanding of what should go into the sitemap. Our sitemap was instrumental in creating our next milestone, the paper prototype. With a clear roadmap we were able to efficiently design the prototype.
